Improved Margins Fail to Support Shares
Gogoro Inc. (NASDAQ:GGR) shares declined sharply in pre-market trading despite the company reporting its fifth consecutive quarter of positive Operating Cash Flow and its highest quarterly gross margin in more than five years. Second-quarter net loss narrowed significantly to $4.9 million from $26.5 million a year earlier, while gross margin improved to 22.6% from just 0.3% in the same period last year.
Gogoro, founded in 2011 and headquartered in Taipei, Taiwan, is a technology company focused on battery-swapping ecosystems for sustainable urban mobility, powering nearly 700,000 riders across more than 2,700 battery-swapping stations. Second-quarter revenue rose 7.3% year over year to $70.6 million, driven by 17.8% growth in hardware sales, while battery swapping service revenue declined slightly by 0.6% due to a shift toward entry-level vehicle models.
The company highlighted early traction from a new wave of product launches, including the EZZY 500 scooter and the recently introduced Gogoro Luna, as part of a multi-year product renaissance aimed at expanding its addressable market. Market share rebounded to 6% in the second quarter, up from 2% earlier in the year, which management attributed to targeted go-to-market execution and growing customer adoption.
Balance Sheet Improves as Battery Upgrade Program Concludes
Gogoro carries a market Capitalization of approximately $33.54 million, reflecting its status as a small-cap name amid an ongoing operational turnaround. The stock does not currently report a forward or trailing price-to-earnings ratio given its net loss position, with Earnings per share at negative $3.34. The company's 52-week range spans $2.20 to $7.54.
Adjusted EBITDA for the quarter rose to $19.3 million from $12.5 million a year earlier, while operating cash flow reached $26.0 million for the first half of the year, aided by the completion of a battery upgrade initiative in the fourth quarter of 2025 that had previously weighed on margins. As of June 30, the company held cash and cash equivalents of $68.8 million, including a $16.7 million Investment from its largest shareholder.
Guidance Remains Cautious Despite Operational Gains
Despite the operational improvements, Gogoro reiterated a cautious full-year revenue guidance range of $285 million to $305 million, reflecting continued market softness. The pre-market decline suggests investors are weighing this conservative outlook against improving margins and cash flow, with the company still targeting non-IFRS profitability in its core battery-swapping Business by the end of 2026 and in its hardware business by 2028.
