Milestone Marks Progress Toward Full Amino Acid Detection

Quantum-Si (NASDAQ:QSI) shares jumped after the company announced it had demonstrated detection of 19 amino acids in its Proteus development program, building on interim results presented earlier this year at a major proteomics conference. Quantum-Si is a proteomics company developing a semiconductor-based, single-molecule protein sequencing platform, pairing its benchtop instruments with sequencing kits and cloud-based analysis software for academic and biopharma customers.

Management said it is now working to deploy the 19-amino-acid capability into a developmental sequencing kit for routine use, a step expected to further improve sequencing performance ahead of a planned commercial launch.

Management Reaffirms Confidence in Year-End Target

Company Leadership expressed growing confidence that detection of all 20 amino acids is achievable by year-end 2026, citing the pace of progress in its recognizer development program. That confidence builds on performance improvements demonstrated at a recent industry congress using an earlier developmental kit capable of detecting 18 amino acids.

Commercial Launch Still Targeted for Mid-2027

The company reiterated that it continues to target a commercial launch of the Proteus platform in the second quarter of 2027, with today's milestone framed as further strengthening confidence in that timeline. A covering research firm maintained its Buy rating and target price following the update, citing the milestone as evidence of continued technical progress.

What Comes Next for the Proteus Program

Investors are likely to watch for confirmation of full 20-amino-acid detection by year-end, along with further detail on deployment of the developmental sequencing kit and any additional performance benchmarks ahead of the targeted 2027 commercial launch.
