Coeur Mining (NYSE:CDE) closed at $17.87 on Monday, September 28, down 7.02% from $19.22 on Friday, as silver and gold slid together. The company mines both metals, so it felt pressure from each on the same day, and a Form 8-K dated Monday turned out to be a routine presentation notice.
Silver and Gold Move Lower Together
Spot silver fell about 4.3% to near $61.53 an ounce, according to market data, and December gold futures dropped $152.80 to $4,168.40. A firmer dollar and higher yields did the damage: the 10-year Treasury Yield reached its highest level since 2007, and dollar-priced metals cost more for overseas buyers. Geopolitics fed the rate story: after President Trump rejected Iran's proposal on the Strait of Hormuz, oil moved higher, with West Texas Intermediate near $92.60 a barrel.
Precious metals pay no interest, so higher yields raise the cost of holding them.
A Filing with No New Numbers
Coeur filed a Form 8-K, a report of current events, on Monday. According to a summary of the filing, it said the company had posted an updated corporate presentation on its website. That is a routine disclosure and it did not announce production, financing or Acquisition news, so no company-specific cause for the move has been identified.
What Coeur Reported in August
In its second-quarter release on August 5, Coeur said it produced 163,490 ounces of gold and 4.4 million ounces of silver, with Revenue of about $1.1 billion and Net Income of $122 million. Free Cash Flow was $388 million and cash stood at $1.052 billion. Rochester, Palmarejo, Kensington, Wharf and Las Chispas all contributed to output.
For 2026 the company guides to 630,000 to 750,000 ounces of gold, 18.68 million to 21.93 million ounces of silver and 40 million to 50 million pounds of copper, and it projected free cash flow of about $1.5 billion and year-end cash approaching $2 billion for 2026, according to the company's release.

What to Watch for Coeur Mining
Silver's direction will matter most in the near term, and it is taking its cue from yields and the dollar. Investors will also look for the third-quarter production and Earnings report, which will show how output is tracking against the guidance ranges.
Key releases ahead include Tuesday's JOLTS Job Openings and consumer confidence, Wednesday's PCE inflation, Thursday's ISM Manufacturing and Friday's September employment report. The Federal Reserve's next policy meeting on October 28 sits over all of it.
