AI Chip Rebound Lifts Semtech

Semtech (NASDAQ:SMTC) shares rose 4.33% pre-market today to $142.10, up $5.90 from the prior close of $136.20. The stock fell 4.23% on Tuesday, and the rebound comes as AI-linked chip names recover, led by strong results from SpaceX (NASDAQ:SPCX) and Super Micro (NASDAQ:SMCI). Those results revived risk appetite after last week's semiconductor selloff, and the tech sector ETF is up about 1% pre-market.

Analyst Day Targets Drew a Mixed Reaction

At its October 15 analyst day, Semtech raised its fiscal third-quarter outlook and laid out a fiscal 2030 target of $3.2 billion in sales, including $2.1 billion from data center. The stock fell sharply afterward, and analysts have since largely defended it. Northland upgraded its stance, Morgan Stanley called the selloff unwarranted, and Stifel cut its price target to $200 on valuation. An expanded silicon germanium capacity deal at a key supplier adds supply visibility.

Big-tech earnings later today and AI-funding worries remain near-term swing factors for the group.

Business Snapshot and Valuation

Semtech, based in Camarillo, California, designs high-performance analog and mixed-signal semiconductors, IoT systems and cloud connectivity services across three segments: Signal Integrity, Analog Mixed Signal and Wireless, and IoT Systems and Connectivity. Its portfolio includes optical and copper data-center interconnect chips, PON and 5G interconnect ICs, TVS protection devices and LoRa RF products, and it is increasingly focused on AI-driven data center demand.

The company posted record fiscal fourth-quarter 2026 net sales of $274.4 million, up 9% year over year. The shares carry a trailing P/E of 90.35 and EPS of $1.84, with a 52-week range of $60.28 to $201.99, so the stock trades well below its high. Volume was 2.35 million shares in the last session.

Next Up: Sector Direction
