Key Highlights
● Axogen and OrthoPediatrics soared on raised forecasts.
● GE HealthCare climbed after lifting its guidance.
● Boston Scientific fell after trimming its outlook.
● Beta Bionics tumbled on a revenue deferral despite strong sales.
Medical-technology stocks swung hard in both directions, as a crowded day of earnings produced some of the session's biggest gains and a handful of sharp losses. Small-cap device makers Axogen and OrthoPediatrics soared on raised forecasts, and imaging giant GE HealthCare climbed, while Boston Scientific, one of the sector's heavyweights, fell after trimming its outlook.
Axogen, which makes products used to repair damaged peripheral nerves, was one of the market's top performers, with third-quarter revenue growing strongly and the company raising its full-year revenue forecast to at least $290 million.
More Big Winners
OrthoPediatrics, which focuses on orthopedic devices for children, soared after reporting record third-quarter revenue and lifting its full-year forecast, and GE HealthCare climbed after raising its full-year guidance. Bausch + Lomb jumped after raising its 2026 revenue view.
A small company making devices for severe emphysema treatment was also named among the day's health-care gainers after returning to year-over-year revenue growth.
The Losers
Boston Scientific fell after guiding fourth-quarter sales below the prior year, following a cybersecurity incident, with its CEO describing a challenging year. Beta Bionics tumbled even though third-quarter net sales grew strongly, after the company said some fourth-quarter revenue may be deferred as users await a new product.
Why the swings were so large often comes down to revenue growth trajectory, with many small-cap device makers thinly traded, which can amplify moves in either direction when results surprise investors.
