Bloom Energy (NYSE:BE) climbed as stocks linked to supplying electricity for artificial-intelligence data centers rallied broadly. The fuel-cell maker rose solidly, with no company-specific catalyst cited for the move, instead appearing to ride a broad wave of buying across AI-infrastructure and power names.
The day's biggest spark came from Vertiv, which soared after raising its sales forecast, while Generac climbed on a long-term backup generator deal with Amazon and Mirion Technologies rose on a surge in nuclear-power orders.
What Bloom Energy Does
Bloom Energy makes solid-oxide fuel cells that generate electricity on site, typically using natural gas or hydrogen, allowing businesses to produce their own power rather than relying solely on the grid.
That pitch has gained traction as data centers race to secure electricity, since many utilities face long waits to connect large new users to the grid, and on-site generation can help data-center operators get up and running faster.
A Natural Gas Demand Story
Melius Research's James West has described the broader AI power theme as a natural gas demand story, a view directly relevant to Bloom, since most of its fuel cells currently run on natural gas.
Long-dated Treasury yields climbed the same day, and energy was among the leading sectors as oil settled back above $100 a barrel, while some strategists remain cautious on how long the AI spending boom can last.
