WVE-006 and WVE-007: Which Catalysts Land in the Fourth Quarter?
In October, the FDA aligned with Wave on a registrational path for WVE-006, its RNA-editing candidate for alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency. The agency supports a two-year registrational trial for potential full approval, with a one-year interim analysis that could support accelerated approval based on biomarkers. Data from the 600 mg monthly multidose cohort are expected in the fourth quarter.
For WVE-007, the obesity candidate, the Phase 2a monotherapy trial is dosing patients with a body mass index of 35 to 50, and a placebo-controlled combination study with weekly tirzepatide has started at 240 mg and 400 mg doses. Phase 1 600 mg single-dose data and the start of a post-incretin maintenance trial are expected in the fourth quarter.
For WVE-008, aimed at PNPLA3 liver disease, a clinical trial application is expected in the fourth quarter.
GSK Collaboration: How Much Revenue Could the Partnership Add?
In September, GSK selected a hepatology development candidate built on Wave's siRNA design, which earned Wave a $12 million milestone. Receipt of the cash is expected in the fourth quarter. Three additional collaboration programs are advancing toward candidate selection, and each program carries up to $330 million to $375 million in potential development, launch and commercial milestones plus tiered royalties.
What to Watch Next: Research Day and Four Fourth-Quarter Readouts
Wave holds a virtual research day on Wednesday, November 4. The fourth-quarter list is WVE-006 multidose data, WVE-007 600 mg data and maintenance trial start, the WVE-008 trial application, and receipt of the GSK milestone.
