The market heads into the first week of November nursing its wounds. On Friday, October 30, 2026, the S&P 500 fell 140.32 points to 7,580.07, the Dow lost 572.25 points to 51,770.31, and the Nasdaq Composite tumbled 747.73 points to 25,437.00, its worst day since June 5. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq posted their third straight weekly declines, according to market data, and the Nasdaq finished its worst month since March 2025.

The week's damage came from earnings. Alphabet (NASDAQ:GOOGL) had its worst day ever on Thursday, Intel (NASDAQ:INTC) suffered what market reports called the steepest one-day drop on record on Friday, and Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN)'s negative $42.4 billion in trailing 12-month free Cash Flow added to fears about AI spending.

Monday: Apple and Palantir

Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) reports after the close on Monday, November 2, with consensus Earnings of about $1.99 a share. It was the best-holding Magnificent Seven stock on Friday and reports after a punishing week for its peers. Investors will look for its holiday-quarter outlook and any comment on memory costs, which Intel blamed for a PC slowdown.

Palantir (NASDAQ:PLTR) also reports Monday after the close. Its shares fell with the AI sector on Friday, and its report will test appetite for AI software after a week of heavy selling.

Tuesday through Thursday

Super Micro Computer (NASDAQ:SMCI) reports on November 3 after the close, offering a read on server and hardware Demand following Intel's warning. Pfizer (NYSE:PFE) reports Tuesday, November 3. Qualcomm (NASDAQ:QCOM) reports its fiscal fourth quarter on November 4, after its shares slid sharply on Friday amid the chip rout, a new Patent license under which it pays Huawei and a renewed court fight with Arm (NASDAQ:ARM), according to market data.

EOG Resources (NYSE:EOG) reports Thursday, November 5, as oil trades above $100. Strategy's chief financial officer, Andrew Kang, is set to step down on November 5, according to reports. Datadog (NASDAQ:DDOG) and AppLovin (NASDAQ:APP) also report in the coming days.

Politics, data and a high bar

The midterm elections take place on Tuesday, November 3. Democrats are widely predicted to win the House, while the Senate is more in doubt, according to market data. An Investment manager said of a Democratic sweep: "I think that will be seen as negative for both the AI names."

The week also brings ISM Manufacturing and services surveys, and the October jobs report arrives on Friday, November 6. That release will feed directly into expectations for the Federal Reserve, which held rates steady this week. Markets are pricing a December rate hike, and three Fed officials said on Friday that rates need to go higher.

Strategists warn that strong results alone may not be enough. "The earnings bar is very high," an investment strategist said. A senior market analyst said "strong AI demand is no longer enough on its own," and she added: "This could remain a significant headwind for the Nasdaq."

What to watch

Beyond next week, Anthropic's initial public offering is targeted for the week of November 16, according to market data. Take-Two (NASDAQ:TTWO) Interactive's Grand Theft Auto VI launches on November 19, and Sandisk (NASDAQ:SNDK)'s eight-for-one Stock Split takes effect November 20.

For now, the focus is on whether Apple and Palantir can steady technology stocks, whether Qualcomm's outlook adds to chip worries, and whether the jobs report strengthens the case for a December hike.
