CHSN Decline: What Lies Behind the 15.75% Drop in This Bakery Chain Penny Stock?
Chanson International (NASDAQ:CHSN) shares are trading 15.75% lower at $1.23 on Thursday, October 29, 2026. The implied prior close is about $1.46 (calculated). No dated company release came with the move, so the latest filed results provide the backdrop.
Chanson makes and sells bakery, seasonal and beverage products through its own chain stores, chiefly in China and the United States. Its range spans packaged baked goods, birthday cakes, pastries, mooncakes and eat-in menu items.
Trading in the shares is thin. Volume was 19,744 on October 5, when the stock closed near $1.06 and its market value was about $2.46 million, so modest order flow can move the price by double digits without any news. A move of this size at a company of this scale therefore says little on its own about the business.
Half-Year Results: Did Profit Return Even as Revenue Slipped?
Results for the six months ended June 30, 2026, released September 18, showed revenue of $8.3 million, a 4.5% decline from $8.7 million. United States store revenue dropped, partly offset by a slight increase in China store revenue.
Gross profit grew 2.4% to $4.0 million, pushing gross margin up to 47.7% from 44.5%. Net income was $0.8 million, compared with a net loss of $1.0 million a year earlier.
Full-year 2025 revenue was $18.27 million, up 0.23%, while earnings were $187,540, down 75.20%. The swing to profit reflects margin and cost control more than sales growth.
United States stores remain the softer part of the business, while the China stores edged up. The next results will show whether the first-half profit repeats.
Cash, Equity and Share Count: How Does Market Value Compare With Reserves?
Cash and equivalents were $20.0 million at June 30, 2026, compared with $8.6 million at December 31, 2025. Total assets were $97.6 million, liabilities $27.2 million and shareholders' equity $70.4 million.
During the half the company issued 3,250,000 shares and reported net proceeds of $12.95 million from share sales. With 2,322,391 shares outstanding at June 30, the market value at $1.23 is about $2.9 million (calculated), well under reported cash.
A 100-for-1 consolidation announced May 5 took effect May 7, 2026, after an 80-for-1 consolidation announced in August 2025, and a March 2025 Nasdaq notice over the minimum bid price came before both. The 52-week range, restated for the splits, was $0.915 to $331.00 as of October 5.
What to Watch Next: Could More Share Issuance Follow the Consolidation?
Further use of the at-the-market share program, which had about 1.32 million Class A shares reserved after the consolidation, would alter the share count. The company set out an AI-driven manufacturing upgrade strategy on May 7, and full-year 2026 results are the next scheduled financial disclosure, after the April 20 release for 2025. Investors will also watch for any Nasdaq notice on the minimum bid price, given the history of consolidations.
