Shares of TRON Inc. (NASDAQ:TRON) rallied on Thursday, October 22, 2026, moving sharply higher even as the broader cryptocurrency market sold off and crypto-linked stocks across the Nasdaq Composite retreated.

The stock traded around $1.40 at 10:29 AM ET and had climbed to about $1.49 by 1:05 PM ET snapshots. Those are intraday readings rather than a confirmed closing price. The company has a market value of roughly $579 million.

No company news found

TRON Inc. had no company-specific news. The gain stood out precisely because it ran against the tape: most crypto-linked stocks were falling, and the token market was under heavy pressure.

TRON Inc. is a treasury company built around TRX, the native token of the Tron blockchain. Like other crypto treasury companies, its share price tends to be linked to the value of the digital assets it holds, though the relationship is not always one-for-one.

Small-cap stocks with concentrated exposure to a single theme can swing sharply on thin news, and moves in either direction can sometimes reverse quickly. Without a clear catalyst, it is difficult to say what drove Thursday's buying.

A rough day for crypto

The rest of the sector told a different story. Bitcoin suffered its biggest one-day drop since June, according to market data, trading around $81,200 to $81,300 late in the day and briefly slipping below $81,000. Ether fell to about $2,381. About $400 million of leveraged crypto positions were liquidated, market data showed.

Crypto-linked stocks were weak before the opening bell. Strategy (NASDAQ:MSTR), Circle (NYSE:CRCL), Coinbase (NASDAQ:COIN), BitMine (NYSE American:BMNR) and SharpLink (NASDAQ:SBET) were all lower in premarket trading. Strategy and Coinbase both fell during the regular session, and spot bitcoin and ether exchange-traded funds declined.

Market commentary attributed the crypto selloff to oil prices climbing above $111 a barrel and fading risk appetite. Brent crude settled at $113.17, its highest since May 4, after Houthi attacks in Saudi Arabia.

TRON Inc. was not the only exception. Stablecoin Development rose in premarket trading after a big jump on Wednesday, again without news.

The wider market

Technology stocks took the brunt of the day's selling. Heavy AI spending and negative free cash flow at Meta Platforms (NASDAQ:META), together with cautious guidance from Lam Research (NASDAQ:LRCX), triggered a rout in chip and AI shares. The Nasdaq Composite fell 694.00 points to 26,008.86, its steepest drop since June 5, ending a seven-session winning streak. The index lost about $1 trillion in market value.

Decliners outnumbered advancers on the Nasdaq by 2,766 to 2,022, and the exchange logged 342 new lows against 82 new highs.

Elsewhere, investors bought defensive stocks. About two of every three S&P 500 stocks rose, according to market reports, with consumer staples posting their best day since April 2025. Gold, normally a haven, fell to its lowest level in more than two months.

TRON Inc. Tracks TRX and Crypto Sentiment

Investors will watch for any company announcement that might explain Thursday's move, and for the price of TRX itself. The broader crypto market's direction after Thursday's liquidations will likely matter too. Oil remains a key influence on risk appetite, and the Federal Reserve's decision on Wednesday, October 28, could shift sentiment toward speculative assets.
