Earnings Momentum and Guidance Raise Drive Gains

The Vita Coco Company, Inc. (NASDAQ:COCO) shares rallied Wednesday, extending momentum from the company's first-quarter 2026 results, which showed net sales of $180 million, up 37% year over year, driven by 42% growth in core coconut water sales and 28% growth in private label.

Vita Coco is a New York-based, B Corp-certified beverage company that markets a portfolio of better-for-you drinks across more than 30 countries, with its flagship Vita Coco brand commanding approximately 46% of the U.S. coconut water market.

Category Growth Supports Raised Guidance

The company raised its full-year 2026 guidance, now expecting net sales of $720 million to $735 million with gross margins near 38% and adjusted EBITDA of $132 million to $138 million, citing stronger than expected category trends. Coconut water category growth remained strong across markets, with U.S. retail scans up 36% in the 13 weeks through March 29 and European measured markets growing 57% in retail dollars, partly attributed to consumers shifting from sports drinks toward coconut water for hydration.

Management said cost pressures, including inflationary impacts from the conflict in the Middle East affecting packaging, energy and ocean freight costs, remain manageable and are incorporated into guidance, with approximately 25% of 2026 ocean shipping requirements covered under fixed-rate agreements. The company ended the first quarter with $202 million in cash and no debt, and has submitted $15.6 million in tariff refund claims to customs authorities, though no refund is included in current guidance.

Conclusion

Vita Coco's continued category growth and raised full-year guidance reinforce a strong growth narrative even as the company navigates freight and packaging cost pressures. With a debt-free balance sheet and ongoing share repurchases, the company retains flexibility to continue investing in growth while returning capital to shareholders.
