Quarter in Numbers
MSA Safety Incorporated (NYSE:MSA), a global provider of industrial safety technology products, reported third-quarter 2026 net sales of USD 536.4 million, up 15% from USD 468.4 million, with organic growth of 6%. GAAP net income was USD 58.4 million, or USD 1.51 per diluted share, versus USD 69.6 million and USD 1.77, a decrease the company attributed to Autronica acquisition costs. Adjusted earnings were USD 80.6 million, or USD 2.09 per diluted share, versus USD 76.2 million and USD 1.94. Adjusted EBITDA rose 10% to USD 130.7 million, a 24.4% Margin versus 25.4%.
Segments
The Americas segment reported net sales of USD 338.2 million, up 8%, with adjusted operating income of USD 96.7 million, a 28.6% margin. The International segment reported net sales of USD 198.2 million, up 28%, with adjusted operating income of USD 31.8 million, up 28%, a 16.1% margin. Free Cash Flow was USD 68.2 million, down 32% from USD 100.5 million, with conversion of 117% versus 144%. By our calculation, free cash flow was about 12.7% of net sales, compared with roughly 21.5% in the prior year quarter, so the acquisition year shows lower cash margin even as profit grew.
For the nine months, net sales were USD 1,503.4 million, up 10%, GAAP Diluted Earnings per Share were USD 5.57 versus USD 4.87, adjusted diluted earnings per share were USD 6.48 versus USD 5.55, and free cash flow was USD 216.0 million versus USD 189.4 million.
Strategy and Product Progress
President and chief executive Steve Blanco said the team continued to advance its Accelerate strategy, delivering 15% sales growth. He highlighted the closing of the Autronica Fire and Security acquisition for USD 563 million, net of cash acquired, the launch of the G1 City Edition self-contained breathing apparatus, and continued momentum in connected safety, including an ALTAIR io 6 order that marked the largest connected safety order to date.
The chief financial officer said adjusted earnings per share increased 8% and free cash flow conversion remained strong, that cash generation and disciplined Capital allocation enabled the acquisition and Shareholder returns through dividends and share repurchases, and that net Leverage sits within the target range.
Cash Conversion and Guidance Markers
The company's cash generation supports dividends, share repurchases and acquisition funding at the same time, which management described as its disciplined capital allocation framework.
The company maintained its full-year sales outlook of low-double-digit reported growth. Nine-month net sales growth was 10%, and the fourth quarter carries a full contribution from the acquired business. Items to track include integration of Autronica, the gap between GAAP and adjusted results, International margin, and free cash flow conversion after a lower third-quarter figure.
