For the four weeks ended August 29, net sales declined 3.3% and comparable store sales declined 2.7%, which the company described as a significant improvement from the 7.1% second-quarter decline.
Management said the quarter's results fell below the expectations underlying its first-quarter guidance, driven principally by lower sales and gross margin in an increasingly promotional footwear market.
