OneSpaWorld Holdings (NASDAQ:OSW), the operator of spas and wellness centres aboard cruise ships and at destination resorts, posted one of the sharper gains among mid-sized US stocks on Wednesday. The shares finished at $28.07, up 12.51%, after the company delivered its third-quarter fiscal 2026 results before the opening bell and paired them with a firmer full-year outlook and a package of shareholder returns.
Company Context
The company had scheduled the release for the morning of October 28, with a conference call at 10:00 a.m. Eastern time, and it described the period as a record third quarter. Revenue came in at $276.5 million, a 7% increase from a year earlier. Net income rose 16% to $28.2 million, or $0.28 per diluted share, while adjusted EBITDA increased 12% to $39.2 million. The fact that earnings and adjusted EBITDA grew faster than sales points to improving operating leverage, a theme investors tend to reward in service businesses where much of the cost base is tied to staffing and onboard space.
Session Backdrop
The results also compared favourably with the company's own framework. When it reported second-quarter results in July, OneSpaWorld had guided third-quarter revenue to a range of $268 million to $273 million and adjusted EBITDA to $35 million to $37 million. The reported figures landed above the top end of both ranges, which helps explain the strength of the reaction.
Guidance was nudged higher as well. OneSpaWorld now expects full-year 2026 revenue of $1.033 billion to $1.038 billion and adjusted EBITDA of $138 million to $140 million, with the lower ends of both ranges raised. That narrows the outlook toward the top of the band management had set earlier in the year and suggests confidence in fourth-quarter demand.
Capital return was another notable element. During the third quarter the company bought back $37.2 million of stock, which completed its prior $75 million repurchase authorisation. The board approved a new buyback programme of up to $100 million and raised the quarterly dividend by 25% to $0.0625 per share, payable on December 2, 2026. For a company whose stock had been trading around the low $20s earlier in October, a larger buyback combined with a dividend increase signals that management sees value in its own shares.
OneSpaWorld's business is closely tied to the cruise industry. It runs spas, fitness centres and wellness services on ships operated by the major cruise lines, earning revenue from treatments, products and related services sold to passengers, and it also operates facilities at land-based resorts. As a result, its performance tends to track passenger volumes, the number of ships in service and how much guests spend once on board. Steady growth in both revenue and margins suggests consumers on cruises are continuing to spend on discretionary wellness services.
The move came on a day when the broader market was subdued. The S&P 500 edged up 0.3% to a record close and the Russell 2000 rose 0.4%, while the Federal Reserve held rates at 3.75% to 4.00% and the 10-year Treasury yield sat near 5%. Elevated oil prices, with Brent near $110 a barrel by early Thursday, remain a cost consideration for the cruise lines that OneSpaWorld depends on, so a clean set of numbers from a cruise-linked business carried extra weight.
What This Move Means for OneSpaWorld Holdings
Going forward, investors are likely to watch the pace of the new buyback, the company's commentary on onboard spending trends and new ship deployments, and whether the fourth quarter keeps results within the upper part of the raised full-year range. Any signs of a slowdown in cruise demand linked to energy costs or consumer pressure would also be closely monitored.
