Sensata Technologies (NYSE:ST) shares are indicated down 5.77% at $39.87 in premarket after a third-quarter report that beat headline numbers but leaned heavily on a one-time $24 million EV program termination payment. Revenue of $1.004 billion beat estimates of $973 million, and adjusted EPS of $1.13 topped the roughly $0.96 consensus. Excluding the payment, EPS was about $0.97. Shares closed Tuesday at $42.31.
Sensata, headquartered in Attleboro, Massachusetts, designs and manufactures sensors, sensor-rich solutions, electrical protection devices and power management and control products for automotive, heavy vehicle, industrial, aerospace, defense, HVAC and energy applications. It is led by CEO Stephan Von Schuckmann.
Underlying Results Met Guidance
Revenue was up 8% as reported and 7% organically. Excluding the payment, it was $980 million, up 5%, or 4% organically, and management said underlying results met or exceeded guidance midpoints. Adjusted operating income was $215 million, a 21.5% margin against 19.3% a year earlier, or $191 million and 19.5% excluding the payment.
Free cash flow was $198 million, a 119% conversion, and net leverage fell to 2.1x with $33 million of debt repurchased.
Q4 Guide and Dilution Chatter
Fourth-quarter revenue guidance of $942 million to $972 million has a midpoint below the roughly $971 million consensus, with management citing softer China auto. Adjusted EPS guidance of $0.95 to $0.99 matched expectations. Light vehicle production is expected to fall 4% in the fourth quarter, mostly in China.
For the first quarter of 2027, management expects no sequential revenue increase and modest year-over-year margin expansion. A new shelf registration covering ordinary shares, warrants and units, including at-the-market sales, added dilution-risk worries.
Data Center Revenue Builds
Data center revenue is expected to reach $48 million in 2026, up 76% from $27 million, excluding Dynapower and the hyperscaler wins. Sensata has seven wins across six hyperscalers, ramping from mid-2027, and a new FL series flow sensor should begin shipping by mid-2027.
Industrials grew 12% organically with a 28.8% margin, Aerospace, Defense and Commercial Equipment grew about 13%, and Automotive grew 3% organically against a 2% production decline. Truist trimmed its target to $57 from $58 and kept a Buy rating. The 52-week range runs from $28.16 to $53.89.
