Semtech Corporation (NASDAQ:SMTC), a provider of high-performance semiconductors, Internet of Things (IoT) systems, and cloud connectivity services, announced the launch of two new FiberEdge® transimpedance amplifiers (TIAs) aimed at addressing power efficiency challenges in scaling AI infrastructure.

The new solutions—GN1834D and GN1818—extend Semtech’s signal integrity portfolio and are designed to optimize 800G deployments while supporting the transition to 1.6T infrastructure.

GN1834D: Enabling 1.6T Infrastructure

The GN1834D is designed to support the emerging 1.6T optical interconnect market, delivering 200G per channel performance. It incorporates 2.5D mounting technology that combines flip-chip assembly at the photodetector-to-TIA interface with wire bond outputs, reducing parasitic effects and improving signal integrity.

As part of 8x200G optical modules, the GN1834D enables 1.6T throughput and provides the analog performance required by hyperscale operators building next-generation AI cluster connectivity.

GN1818: Power Optimization for 800G Deployments

The GN1818 TIA addresses the needs of operators extending their 800G infrastructure while preparing for 1.6T migration. It delivers up to 20% power reduction compared with alternatives, offering significant efficiency gains without compromising signal integrity or latency.

The launch of GN1834D and GN1818 boosts Semtech’s 200G per channel portfolio, which already includes the GN1832, GN1834, and GN1836 TIAs. This portfolio breadth enables module manufacturers to select from multiple design options while benefiting from single-supplier standardization and streamlined supply chain management.

Demonstration at CIOE 2025

Semtech will showcase its optical solutions portfolio, including the new FiberEdge TIAs, at CIOE 2025 in Shenzhen, China. The company will highlight its innovations in power efficiency and performance for next-generation AI infrastructure at Booth #11C52.
