After a year in which its share price more than doubled at one stage, Millicom International Cellular (NASDAQ:TIGO) now finds Wall Street divided over how much of the good news is already priced in. The Latin American mobile and broadband operator traded at $80.76 on October 14, 2026, up 1.5% on the day. That is about 25% below its 52-week high of $107.13, although still well above the low of $44.88, with a market value near $13.5 billion.
Record Cash Generation
In its second-quarter 2026 release, Millicom reported service revenue of about $2 billion, up 5.4% organically, a record equity free cash flow of $327 million, and raised its full-year equity free cash flow outlook to about $1.1 billion from at least $900 million. Leverage stood at 2.73 times at the end of June, with management targeting a level below 2.5 times by year end. An interim dividend of $1.50 per share, payable in two instalments in January and April 2027, was declared alongside the results. Colombia, which now includes a full quarter of Coltel, grew organic service revenue 11% with an adjusted EBITDA margin of 39.4%.
A Split Among Analysts
On August 18, JPMorgan cut Millicom to Neutral from Overweight on valuation grounds while raising its price target to $105 from $100, saying expectations had risen and the benefits of Colombian consolidation looked largely reflected in the price. At the time the shares were near $94. Morgan Stanley increased its target to $94 from $80. The aggregate view is a Hold rating from eight analysts and an average 12-month target of $96.39, implying roughly 19% upside on paper, though the shares have fallen about 14% since JPMorgan's note.
Valuation Can Move Independently of Fundamentals
Millicom's recent record cash generation and raised guidance have not stopped the shares retreating from their peak, a reminder that valuation can move independently of fundamentals. Analyst views range from caution about priced-in expectations to price targets well above today's level, with the November 5 results offering fresh evidence on which camp is closer to the mark.
