Key Highlights

  • Kopin closed at $4.04 on June 23, down $0.53, as the semiconductor sector fell broadly on Korean memory contagion and AI spending concerns.
  • The stock had risen more than 72% year-to-date and nearly 150% over the prior year, driven by demand for its miniature displays in defence and industrial wearables.
  • Kopin's microdisplay products serve defence thermal weapon sights, avionic pilot helmets, armoured vehicle targeting systems, and consumer AR and VR headsets.
  • With a 52-week range of $1.44 to $6.61, the June 23 close at $4.04 placed Kopin near the midpoint of its annual trading range despite the sharp session decline.

Kopin Corp. (NASDAQ:KOPN) fell 11.49% to close at $4.04 on June 23, 2026, declining with the broader semiconductor sector as a macro risk-off event swept all technology hardware names lower regardless of their specific end market exposure.

Kopin develops and manufactures miniature active-matrix microdisplays, subassemblies, and optical components for defence, enterprise, industrial, and consumer applications. Its products include liquid crystal on silicon displays, OLED microdisplays, and emerging MicroLED technologies, which are integrated into soldier rifle sights, pilot helmet-mounted displays, armoured vehicle targeting systems, and augmented and virtual reality headsets.

The June 23 selloff reflected sector contagion rather than any Kopin-specific development. South Korea's Kospi fell 10%, pulling Samsung and SK Hynix each lower by more than 12%, and the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index dropped nearly 8% as AI spending concerns and leveraged ETF rebalancing amplified the directional selling across all chip and hardware names.

Kopin had been a strong year-to-date performer, rising approximately 72% on growing demand for its defence-market display products and renewed interest in AR and VR wearable hardware. The defence sector has been a particularly reliable source of microdisplay demand, with military modernisation programmes requiring rugged, high-resolution heads-up display systems for both ground and aviation applications.

Despite the session's 11.49% decline, Kopin's 52-week gain of nearly 148% reflects the breadth of its product cycle improvement. The company operates with a relatively small workforce of approximately 181 employees, maintaining focused design and manufacturing operations from its Westborough, Massachusetts headquarters.
