Oracle Collaboration Adds Momentum Before Earnings

Intel (NASDAQ:INTC) shares are trading up 3.18% to $93.35, extending a pre-earnings rebound after the company announced a multiyear collaboration with Oracle (NYSE:ORCL) to expand Xeon-based computing on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. The plan covers current and future Xeon platforms, including planned OCI X14 offerings based on Intel's next-generation server processor, codenamed Diamond Rapids. Shares are outpacing a chip-led rally that followed Anthropic's IPO filing.

Intel and Oracle intend to coordinate roadmaps and processor capacity planning to support Oracle's expansion. Diamond Rapids is expected to bring enhanced Advanced Matrix Extensions with FP8, FP16 and BF16 support for inference, and Advanced Performance Extensions to reduce instruction overhead, as enterprises deploy AI agents at scale.

Classiq Deal Builds a Full-Stack Quantum Platform

On Monday, Intel announced a definitive agreement to acquire quantum software provider Classiq, combining Classiq's synthesis platform with Intel's spin-qubit manufacturing and software. Intel has invested in quantum computing since 2015. The transaction is subject to regulatory approvals and is expected to close in the first half of 2027.

Options Imply a 10% Move Into Thursday's Report

Third-quarter results are due Thursday, and options imply a post-earnings move of about 10% to 11%. Wedbush has a Neutral rating with a $98 target and says the reaction will hinge on fourth-quarter guidance and 2027 commentary.

New Street upgraded the stock to Buy, citing a server CPU shortage, and reports say CEO Lip-Bu Tan has spoken with AMD (NASDAQ:AMD) about possible cooperation.

Valuation and Recent Weakness Frame the Setup

Intel has a market cap of $493.46 billion, EPS of $0.57 and a forward P/E of 47.76. Shares opened at $92.47, traded between $91.86 and $94.98 on volume of about 61.37 million shares, and remain well below the 52-week high of $142.35.

Shares are still down roughly 25% to 30% over the past month, with a consensus rating of Hold and an average target near $108.
