Infosys Infosys (NYSE:INFY) has announced a new set of artificial intelligence–based innovations for the Australian Open (AO) 2026 as part of its long-standing technology partnership with Tennis Australia. The initiatives are built on Infosys Topaz™, the company’s generative and agentic AI suite, and are designed to enhance fan engagement, improve accessibility, and extend digital experiences across on-site and online platforms.
The partnership, now in its eighth year, continues to focus on applying AI to live sports environments, with an emphasis on data-driven insights, inclusivity, and governed AI deployment during one of tennis’s largest global tournaments.
MatchFeel Introduces Tactile Access for Visually Impaired Fans
One of the key additions for AO 2026 is MatchFeel, an accessibility-focused pilot designed for blind and visually impaired audiences. The experience translates real-time match and ball-tracking data into tactile and haptic feedback.
A physical court surface features engraved lines, while a magnetic ring follows the ball’s movement during rallies. Vibration patterns reflect speed and direction, allowing users to perceive match flow through touch. Live commentary is synchronized with the tactile output, providing a multi-sensory representation of on-court action.
Rally AI Mascot Brings Controlled Interactive Engagement
Infosys is also introducing Rally, an AI-powered humanoid robot featured at the Infosys Fan Zone. Rally draws on live AO 2026 data to interact with fans through predefined tennis-related experiences. These include match-based predictions, guided conversations on ongoing games, and photo interactions.
The system operates within defined Responsible AI parameters, limiting content scope to tennis, managing physical movements, and ensuring system governance during public interaction.
AI Features Simplify Match Understanding
The “Keys to the Match” feature provides fans with three concise insights for each player ahead of matches. These insights are generated using rankings, head-to-head records, win probability models, and performance indicators. The aim is to convert complex datasets into easily understandable cues related to serving patterns, rally behavior, or situational performance.
Digital Platforms Receive Further AI Enhancements
Existing Australian Open digital offerings are also being expanded. The Gen AI Stadium allows fans to create virtual tennis courts using speech-to-image AI and experience them through virtual reality. The Infosys Match Centre continues to deliver AI-generated commentary and match narratives in real time. Additionally, AI Shot of the Day supports automated highlight creation, while video analytics tools provide players and coaches with deeper performance analysis.
Beyond technology, the Infosys Fan Zone at Melbourne Park remains climate active with recyclable infrastructure, and the Future Leaders Program will engage Year 9–11 students in technology and digital skills exposure during the tournament.
