Applied Optoelectronics, Inc. (Nasdaq:AAOI) has announced the first volume shipment of its high-speed data center transceivers to a major hyperscale data center customer. The shipment represents a renewed business relationship, marking the first significant quantity of product deliveries to this client in several years.
The announcement is part of AOI’s broader strategy to increase its presence in the data center transceiver market, particularly in the second half of the year. The company previously signalled its expectations for growth in this segment and indicated that the resumption of deliveries to the hyperscale client is an important development in this context.
“This first volume shipment to this customer represents a significant milestone on a journey to what we continue to expect to be significant business opportunities with this newly re-engaged customer,” said Dr. Thompson Lin, AOI’s Founder, Chairman, and CEO. He noted that the company expects shipments to this and other customers to grow in line with prior guidance, particularly as AOI advances its manufacturing expansion within the United States.
AOI has emphasized its US-based capacity expansion plan as a key factor in scaling its operations to meet anticipated customer demand. The company believes this strategic initiative will support increasing volumes in the coming quarters and facilitate timely deliveries to its core client base, including tier-1 data center operators.
The company did not disclose the identity of the hyperscale customer, nor did it provide specific financial details regarding the size of the order or potential future volumes. However
