Cemtrex Slides Under Its 52-Week Low With No Same-Day Announcement Found

Cemtrex (NASDAQ:CETX) shares are trading down 18.42% today at $1.45, which is below the 52-week low of $1.70 shown in market data as of October 26. No company-specific announcement was identified for the move, so the most recent fundamental updates provide the context.

Cemtrex is a diversified Business with three segments. Its Security unit, Vicon, makes video management software, cameras and surveillance systems for enterprise, government and critical infrastructure clients. Industrial Services provides rigging, millwrighting and process piping, and Aerospace and Defense, through Invocon, supplies engineering and sensing solutions for space and defense programs.

Third-Quarter Revenue Up 9% to $18.4 Million, but the Net Loss Remains $4.5 Million

For the quarter ended June 30, revenue reached $18.4 million, up from $17.0 million a year earlier and 2% higher than the previous quarter. Gross Profit was $7.7 million, a 41.7% margin, compared with 43.4% a year ago and 38.3% in the second quarter.

The operating loss was $1.2 million, down from $2.2 million in the prior quarter, and operating EBITDA, a non-GAAP measure, was a loss of $0.6 million. The net loss attributable to stockholders was $4.5 million, versus $4.6 million a year earlier, after $1.1 million of interest expense and $2.2 million of non-cash warrant fair-value changes.

Segment Mix: Aerospace Margins Offset Industrial Services Restructuring

Security revenue was $6.3 million at a 49.1% gross margin, down from $7.6 million a year earlier, mainly because of shipping delays. Industrial Services produced $10.0 million at a 27.1% margin, with its Tennessee operation, which is under restructuring, losing more than $1 million in the quarter. The Security unit's operating loss narrowed from $3.0 million in the first quarter to $0.3 million.

Aerospace and Defense contributed $2.2 million of revenue at an 87.0% margin and $1.0 million of operating income, while corporate costs were $1.2 million. Revenue in that unit rose 79% from the prior quarter and depends on the timing of long-cycle program milestones.

Cash, restricted cash and marketable securities totaled $13.0 million, Working Capital was $13.2 million, and equity was $32.0 million. Trailing twelve-month revenue is listed at $71.17 million, down 6.5%, with a trailing net loss of $27.57 million. Operating Cash Flow turned positive at $0.2 million in the quarter, after $5.1 million was used in the first half of the fiscal year.

Acquisitions and Federal Orders Are the Next Items to Track

Cemtrex completed its purchase of Plant Engineering Services in July and has a letter of intent for another Industrial Services acquisition. Vicon booked about $2.8 million in federal orders on September 17, after a roughly $900,000 corrections Facility order in July. The next Quarterly Report should show whether those orders and acquisitions narrow the net loss. Invocon was also selected in April for a U.S. Navy small business research contract in naval mine warfare.
