DMC Global (NASDAQ:BOOM) rose 7.55% on Friday, adding to gains in a week that began with a strong quarterly report. No company-specific news dated Thursday or Friday was identified, so the move appears to be continued momentum from the company's October 27 results rather than a reaction to a fresh announcement.

A Sharp Year-Over-Year Improvement

Consolidated sales were $172.8 million, up 14%. Net Income attributable to DMC was $9.7 million, or $0.59 per diluted share, compared with a loss of $3.1 million a year earlier. Adjusted EBITDA attributable to DMC was $19.0 million, including $5.4 million of Tariff refunds, or $13.6 million excluding them. Net debt fell to $13.7 million, the lowest level since the company acquired Arcadia in December 2021. A research service also upgraded the shares to Strong-Buy after the results.

Three Businesses

Arcadia makes architectural building products, DynaEnergetics supplies perforating systems to the oil and gas industry, and NobelClad produces explosion-welded composite plates and ended the quarter with a $72.4 million order backlog. Management guided fourth-quarter sales to $154 million to $164 million and adjusted EBITDA to $10 million to $13 million, citing seasonal moderation at Arcadia, a temporary shutdown at a California finishing Facility and pressure from interest rates and aluminum costs.

A Weak Market, Selective Buyers

The S&P 500 fell 140.32 points, or 1.8%, to 7,580.07 and the Nasdaq Composite dropped 747.73 points, or 2.9%, to 25,437.00, as Intel (NASDAQ:INTC)'s weak outlook triggered a chip rout and Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN)'s results revived worries about AI spending. Small industrial names with improving Earnings and little exposure to the AI trade were among the stocks that could attract buyers. Post-earnings drift is common when results surprise to the upside.

Winter Demand and Backlog

Investors will watch whether Arcadia's growth holds through the seasonally slower winter, how quickly the California facility returns to normal, North American drilling activity and whether NobelClad's Backlog converts into continued growth.
