The company released its numbers on October 29 and held its Earnings Call on October 30.

Managed Freight Leads

Outlook and Rate Commentary

For the fourth quarter Covenant expects a modest sequential increase in earnings per share. Chief executive David Parker said roughly 80 of every 100 fleet Assets were under long-term contracts, warned that "driver capacity is tight, and the cost of recruiting, retaining, and compensating drivers is increasing significantly," and said on the call that he expects double-digit truckload contract rate increases in 2027. That is an expectation rather than a guarantee. The company expects net capital expenditures of $35.0 million to $40.0 million for the rest of 2026.

A Real-Economy Winner

The S&P 500 fell 140.32 points, or 1.8%, to 7,580.07 and the Nasdaq Composite dropped 747.73 points, or 2.9%, to 25,437.00, as Intel (NASDAQ:INTC)'s weak outlook triggered a chip rout and Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN)'s results revived worries about AI spending. Other trucking-related names, including Universal Logistics (NASDAQ:ULH) and FedEx Freight Holding (NYSE:FDXF), also rallied on their own results. Higher fuel costs remain a cost line for any carrier. Investors will watch whether Managed Freight holds its gains, whether expedited volumes stabilize and how driver-cost Inflation affects margins.
