TransMedics Group, Inc. (Nasdaq:TMDX), a medical technology company focused on organ transplant therapy, announced a strategic collaboration with Mercedes-Benz Group AG to introduce a fleet of purpose-built Mercedes-Benz V-Class vehicles dedicated to organ transportation across Italy. This initiative aligns with TransMedics’ plan to replicate its successful U.S. NOP™ (Normothermic Organ Perfusion) model in Europe, combining ground and air logistics with its TransMedics OCS™ perfusion platform and clinical services.

Implementation Across Italy
The collaboration will deploy several Mercedes-Benz V-Class vehicles across four major Italian NOP hubs located in Milan, Rome, Padua, and Bari. The vehicles are equipped with advanced safety features to meet the stringent requirements of transplant logistics, ensuring secure transport of organs, physicians, and equipment during missions.

Each hub will feature OCS Lung, Heart, and Liver Systems, and will be staffed by clinical perfusionists. TransMedics will provide continuous technological, clinical, and logistical support to transplant centers, procurement organizations, and surgical teams, aiming to increase donor organ utilization throughout Italy. The Italian National Command Center will operate from TransMedics’ NOP hub in Santa Giulia, Milan.
