10x Genomics (NASDAQ:TXG) shares are trading down 10.78% at $62.55, against a previous close of $70.11, extending a volatile stretch after the commercial launch of Sentira Single Cell, an agentic AI analysis application for Chromium data. The stock has fallen about 14% on Oct. 30 and roughly 22% over October, and it reports third-quarter results after the close on Nov. 5.
10x Genomics, based in Pleasanton, California, is a life science technology company co-founded in 2012. It designs and sells instruments, consumables and software for single-cell and spatial biology, built around Chromium for single-cell analysis, Visium for spatial gene expression and Xenium for in situ analysis. Customers include academic, government, biopharma and biotech organizations worldwide. The Business runs on a razor-and-blade model, with consumables making up about $507 million of roughly $643 million in 2025 revenue.
What Sentira Single Cell Does
Sentira Single Cell is a cloud-based application that lets researchers explore Chromium data, ask scientific questions and test hypotheses in natural language. An AI agent plans and runs the analysis, then returns and documents the conclusions. Researchers can also ask the agent to propose a hypothesis based on their data.
The agent develops an analysis plan for the researcher to review and refine before it executes, and the work is captured in an editable, reproducible notebook that records the methods and code behind each result. Researchers can continue asking questions and requesting changes, which keeps scientists in control. It runs on 10x Cloud, which provides the computing power to analyze Chromium data of any scale and to run several analyses in parallel without researchers managing their own infrastructure.
Partnership and Availability
Sentira Single Cell is powered by Anthropic's Claude models, building on an existing Partnership between the two companies. The agent uses them to reason through complex, multi-step analyses and adapt as researchers refine their questions. The company's chief technology officer said the product addresses the last mile between generating data and answering the scientific question a researcher set out to explore.
The application is available now with promotional credits and consumption-based pricing that scales with analysis needs. It expands the Sentira platform introduced at the end of September, which also includes Sentira Spatial Analysis in Early Access. A scientific director at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute said natural language makes it faster to get answers and move toward insights that matter for patients.
Why the Shares Are Under Pressure
The launch comes with no quantified Revenue or adoption detail, and sentiment toward the stock is cautious while healthcare broadly is steady. The shares were already weak after Illumina (NASDAQ:ILMN) fell 18.6% on Oct. 30 following a third-quarter revenue miss, which raised questions about Demand across the sector. The stock has a 52-week range of $12.80 to $102.81, and trailing Earnings Per Share are negative $0.59.
Analyst targets average about $68, which sits above the current price, and valuation near 15 times sales and insider selling remain focal points before earnings. Consensus expects revenue of roughly $148 million and a loss of $0.26 per share. The company also faces funding pressure in academic research, rising competition and continued operating losses.
Results on Nov. 5 should show whether demand for instruments and consumables is holding and whether management can quantify early interest in Sentira. Spending trends at academic customers will be one of the main data points for judging the sector.
