Which Earnings Calls and Events Are Scheduled for October 28 After the October 27 Reports?
Six companies that reported on Tuesday, October 27, set up Wednesday, October 28, as a follow-up day. Zurn Elkay Water Solutions (NYSE:ZWS) holds its call at 8:30 a.m. Eastern, FirstEnergy (NYSE:FE) at 9 a.m., Crane (NYSE:CR) at 10 a.m., ONEOK (NYSE:OKE) and RenaissanceRe (NYSE:RNR) at 11 a.m., and Extra Space Storage (NYSE:EXR) at 1 p.m. Beyond the calls, dated items include a West Virginia commission order at FirstEnergy in the fourth quarter, Crane's Trillium closing in the fourth quarter and Extra Space's chief executive handover on January 1, 2027.
Each call follows a release with specific open questions, listed below in call order.
Zurn Elkay: What Will the 8:30 a.m. Call Address After a Conservative Fourth-Quarter Guide?
Zurn Elkay reported third-quarter adjusted EPS of $0.52 against $0.43 and net sales of $495.1 million, up 8.7%. Its operating margin rose 490 basis points, and the adjusted EBITDA margin was 28.3%. Net leverage was 0.4 times, and the annual dividend was raised 18% to $0.52.
Fourth-quarter guidance is net sales of $430 million to $437 million and adjusted EBITDA of $120 million to $123 million. Management called its assumptions conservative, so margin durability and further tariff refund receipts are the items to track.
FirstEnergy: Will the 9 a.m. Call Cover Large-Load Contracts and the West Virginia Order?
FirstEnergy reported core EPS of $0.98 against $0.83 and reaffirmed 2026 core EPS guidance of $2.62 to $2.82. Nine-month core EPS was $2.20 against $2.02. Contracted large-load demand reached 7.9 gigawatts, nearly double the start of 2026, with about 4 gigawatts more under negotiation.
A final order from the West Virginia commission on the proposed Maidsville gas plant is projected for the fourth quarter of 2026. The transmission plan is $19 billion for 2026 to 2030, and the release did not cover dividends or financing.
Crane: What Might the 10 a.m. Call Add on Orders, Tariffs and Acquisitions?
Crane reported record adjusted EPS of $2.05 against $1.67 and raised 2026 adjusted EPS guidance to $7.23 to $7.38 from $6.85 to $7.05. Process Flow Technologies core orders grew 19.7%, and backlog was $1,894.9 million.
Checkpoints include the Trillium pump business purchase, expected to close in the fourth quarter, and the 230 million pound sale of the UK building services unit in early 2027. The dividend of $0.255 per share is payable December 9 to holders of record on November 30.
ONEOK: What Will the 11 a.m. Call Say About 2027 After a Raised Outlook?
ONEOK raised 2026 adjusted EBITDA guidance to $8.5 billion to $8.6 billion from $8.2 billion to $8.5 billion. Diluted EPS of $2.13 included a $0.53 noncash tax benefit, leaving about $1.60 without it, a calculated figure.
Management expects meaningful 2027 earnings growth from the Brazos assets and growth projects but gave no numbers. Investors will look for Brazos integration progress, the fourth-quarter run rate implied by guidance, about $2.19 billion as calculated, and gas processing volumes after a flat third quarter. Total debt was about $28.5 billion, a calculated figure, and two rating agencies upgraded the company to BBB+.
RenaissanceRe: What Will the 11 a.m. Call Say About Casualty Premiums and Buybacks?
RenaissanceRe reported operating EPS of $12.71 and a GAAP loss of $4.02 per share, with the gap coming from $879.8 million of investment losses. Gross premiums written fell 9.5% to $2,104.0 million, and book value per share was $259.61, down 1.9% in the quarter.
Management is expected to expand on underwriting, fee income and net investment income. Investors will look for casualty premium commentary, the buyback pace after $143.8 million was repurchased from October 1 to October 23, and any change to loss estimates for three large events.
Extra Space Storage: What Will the 1 p.m. Call Add to the Raised Core FFO Outlook?
Extra Space reported core FFO of $2.17 per share, up 4.3%, with same-store revenue up 2.7% and operating expenses down 1.8%, and raised 2026 core FFO guidance to $8.40 to $8.50 from $8.25 to $8.40. It bought back 2.39 million shares for $327.1 million in the quarter, and the board approved a new $500 million authorization on October 15.
The release gave no fourth-quarter range, so about $2.03 to $2.13 is implied by subtraction (calculated). The president becomes chief executive on January 1, 2027, and bridge loans of about $1.4 billion are among items to track.
Follow-Up Dates Compared: How Do the Implied Fourth Quarters Stack Up?
Several companies leave fourth-quarter figures to be inferred. Against third-quarter results, the implied midpoints are Extra Space core FFO of $2.08 versus $2.17, down about 4.1%, ONEOK adjusted EBITDA of about $2.19 billion versus $2,238 million, down about 2.0%, Crane adjusted EPS of $1.805 versus $2.05, down about 11.9%, and FirstEnergy core EPS of $0.52 versus $0.98, down about 46.9% (all calculated). Zurn Elkay's guided net sales midpoint of $433.5 million is about 12.4% below $495.1 million, also calculated.
On timing, the January 1, 2027 handover at Extra Space is 65 days after October 28 (calculated). Crane's Trillium closing and the West Virginia order at FirstEnergy both fall in the fourth quarter, and the ONEOK and RenaissanceRe calls overlap at 11 a.m.
What to Watch Next: Which Dates Follow the October 28 Calls?
After the calls, the dated items are Crane's record date of November 30 and dividend payment on December 9, the West Virginia commission order for FirstEnergy and Crane's Trillium closing in the fourth quarter, Extra Space's chief executive change on January 1, 2027, and Crane's UK sale in early 2027. ONEOK and RenaissanceRe have no further dated item beyond their calls, so commentary on 2027 growth and loss estimates is the next information to arrive.
