Agilysys (NASDAQ:AGYS): record revenue and raised guidance
Agilysys sells point-of-sale, property management and related software to hotels, resorts, casinos and stadiums. For the quarter ended September 30, 2026, total revenue was USD 93.4 million. The company's customers include hotels, resorts, casinos and stadiums, so demand follows hospitality capital budgets. Subscription and maintenance revenue was USD 62.2 million against USD 51.0 million, professional services were USD 19.2 million against USD 18.2 million, and products were USD 12.0 million against USD 10.1 million. Recurring revenue made up 66.6% of the total, up from 64.3% a year earlier. Gross margin rose to 64.6% from 61.7%, which helped adjusted EBITDA reach 25.9% of revenue. GAAP net income was USD 13.2 million. Cash rose to USD 137.6 million from USD 116.9 million at fiscal year-end, while free cash flow was USD 14.8 million against USD 15.0 million. CEO Ramesh Srinivasan said the business continues to grow ahead of previous expectations, citing subscription growth, higher-than-expected one-time product revenue, industry investment in modern point-of-sale technology, a record sales quarter and record backlog despite strong implementation results. The company raised its outlook: total fiscal 2027 revenue of USD 374 million to USD 378 million, subscription revenue growth of at least 34% from at least 32%, and adjusted EBITDA of 25% of revenue from 24%.
Alliance Resource Partners (NASDAQ:ARLP): volume and royalties
Alliance sells thermal coal from the Illinois Basin and Appalachia and owns oil and gas mineral royalties. Third-quarter tons sold were 9.348 million, up 7.4%, with the Illinois Basin at 7.033 million tons at USD 51.16 a ton and Appalachia at 2.315 million tons at USD 62.35. The average price fell 8.3%, so higher volume and lower costs drove the profit gain: coal segment adjusted EBITDA rose 18.6% to USD 186.8 million. Royalty segment adjusted EBITDA rose 61.4% to USD 43.6 million, helped by the AllDale III and IV acquisition that closed on July 1, 2026. Consensus EPS was USD 0.82 in published market data. CEO Joseph Craft III credited a strong shipping quarter, the return of the Hamilton mine to longwall production, and solid results at River View and Tunnel Ridge. Alliance Resource Partners (NASDAQ:ARLP) is essentially fully committed for 2026 at the guidance midpoint and expects 2027 results to improve on 2026. Export volumes are a growing share of sales, and the royalty business adds exposure to natural gas.
Hawkins (NASDAQ:HWKN): water treatment strength
Hawkins distributes and blends chemicals for water treatment, industrial customers and food and health sciences. In the quarter ended September 27, 2026, sales were USD 313.8 million, up from USD 280.4 million. Water Treatment, its largest segment, grew 16% to USD 175.0 million. Industrial Solutions rose 10% to USD 62.2 million, and Food and Health Sciences rose 5% to USD 76.7 million. Gross profit rose 13% to USD 76.6 million, about 24% of sales, and operating income rose to USD 41.9 million from USD 33.9 million. Net income of USD 27.8 million equals USD 1.34 per diluted share, up 24% on EPS, simple arithmetic on two reported figures. Adjusted EBITDA of USD 59.1 million was 16% higher, so profit grew faster than sales, which signals operating leverage in the quarter. Dave Symonds and Associates, a Florida water distributor focused on blended phosphates, closed during the quarter, and Eagle Labs, a Dallas-Fort Worth water treatment distributor with two locations and in-house manufacturing, closed after quarter end.
HBT Financial (NASDAQ:HBT): margin and credit gains
HBT Financial, an Illinois bank holding company, earned USD 31.4 million, up from USD 27.8 million in the second quarter and USD 19.8 million a year earlier. Adjusted EPS was also USD 0.86 against USD 0.78 and USD 0.65. Net interest income of USD 70.3 million was up 1.8% from the second quarter and 40.7% year over year, and loans rose from USD 3.40 billion to USD 4.78 billion, about 41%, simple arithmetic on two reported figures. Return on assets was 1.85%. Noninterest expense was USD 42.7 million, including USD 1.0 million of acquisition costs, and the efficiency ratio improved to 48.73% from 50.67%. Return on average equity was 16.17%, and noninterest income was USD 14.2 million. The provision was a negative USD 0.6 million, nonperforming assets were USD 10.8 million, or 0.16% of assets, and the company booked net recoveries of USD 0.5 million. The allowance was 1.26% of loans, or 599% of nonperforming loans.
FirstSun Capital Bancorp (NASDAQ:FSUN): a swing back to profit
FirstSun, a Colorado-based bank holding company, lost USD 22.9 million in the second quarter after a USD 40.4 million provision and USD 42.4 million of net charge-offs. In the third quarter it earned USD 38.4 million. The comparison with a year earlier is flat on GAAP EPS at USD 0.82, but adjusted EPS rose to USD 1.03 from USD 0.83, and adjusted net income was USD 48.2 million against USD 23.4 million. The difference between GAAP and adjusted figures reflects acquisition-related items from the First Foundation deal. The efficiency ratio improved to 70.43% from 93.25%, or 63.06% on an adjusted basis. Noninterest income was USD 39.4 million, about 21.9% of revenue. Net interest margin was 3.82%, up 24 basis points from 3.58% in the second quarter but down from 4.07% a year earlier. Net interest income was USD 140.3 million, down USD 2.9 million from the second quarter. Loans were USD 11.5 billion, down at a 3.8% annualized pace, and deposits fell USD 0.4 billion to USD 13.0 billion.
Where Things Stand
The answer is that Agilysys (NASDAQ:AGYS) delivered the largest beat at about 22%. Alliance Resource Partners (NASDAQ:ARLP) followed. Hawkins (NASDAQ:HWKN) came next. HBT Financial (NASDAQ:HBT) was narrower at about 9%. FirstSun Capital Bancorp (NASDAQ:FSUN) was narrower still at about 6%, simple arithmetic on consensus. The beats rest on different drivers: software subscriptions, coal volume and royalties, water treatment demand, and bank margins. FirstSun Capital Bancorp (NASDAQ:FSUN) shows how credit costs can swing results. Some upside, such as one-time product revenue at Agilysys, may not repeat. A beat is not a forecast. This is not investment advice.
