Understanding Desmoid Tumors
Desmoid tumors are rare and locally aggressive growths that can lead to organ damage. In the U.S., approximately 1,000 to 1,650 people are diagnosed each year. The condition can significantly affect patients physically and emotionally due to its unpredictable nature and the limitations of existing treatment options.
Phase 3 Trial Findings
The phase 3 study demonstrated that varegacestat achieved its primary endpoint by improving progression-free survival. The trial reported an 84% reduction in the risk of disease progression or death compared to placebo. Secondary endpoints, including reductions in tumor volume and pain intensity, were also met.
