MARA Holdings (NASDAQ:MARA) fell on Friday, October 30, 2026, as Bitcoin miners slid alongside crypto prices after a reported hack at Binance. The shares were lower in premarket trading and traded at $6.70 at 11:25 a.m. Eastern, according to market data. No company-specific news was found; the stock moved with the sector.

MARA, formerly Marathon Digital, is one of the largest publicly traded bitcoin miners. The company mines bitcoin at sites in the U.S. and elsewhere and holds a sizable stockpile of the token on its balance sheet, which means its shares are especially sensitive to swings in the price of bitcoin.

The record breach

Binance, the world's largest crypto exchange, disclosed a security breach on Thursday evening and on Friday confirmed that about $6.3 billion had been stolen. That would be the largest crypto theft on record. TRM Labs and Elliptic tied the attack to North Korea, and market reports said that Binance blamed a compromised DevOps engineer's laptop.

Binance moved to calm customers. "We are committed to covering all hacked losses through our company funds," co-CEO Richard Teng said. Roughly $3 billion of the stolen funds was reportedly frozen, and withdrawals were expected to resume by Sunday, according to market data. Circle, the Stablecoin issuer, said it had frozen $800 million in USDC in coordination with law enforcement, market reports said.

Bitcoin slides

Bitcoin fell to a six-week low, trading around $76,700 to $77,600, down from about $86,000 earlier in the month. Ether traded near $2,237. "I suspect the negative price action still has some way to go," a digital-assets research head said.

MARA had plenty of company. Riot Platforms (NASDAQ:RIOT), Hut 8 (NASDAQ:HUT), CleanSpark, Cipher and IREN all fell. Coinbase (NASDAQ:COIN) dropped sharply after quarterly Revenue missed estimates, and Strategy, which holds 848,517 bitcoin, also fell. Robinhood (NASDAQ:HOOD), Circle and Galaxy Digital declined as well.

A heavy day across Wall Street

The broader market had its worst day since June. The S&P 500 fell 140.32 points to 7,580.07, the Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 572.25 points to 51,770.31 and the Nasdaq Composite dropped 747.73 points to 25,437.00, its worst day since June 5. The Russell 2000 slid 47.37 points to 2,811.84. Closing levels for the FT Wilshire 5000 were not available.

Technology led the selling after Intel (NASDAQ:INTC) issued a weak fourth-quarter outlook and warned of cash burn, and Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) reported negative trailing free Cash Flow of $42.4 billion. Energy, consumer staples, utilities and health care gained as investors sought safety.

The Federal Reserve was another source of pressure. It held rates steady this week, but Governor Lisa Cook and Cleveland Fed President Beth Hammack dissented in favor of a hike, and markets moved to price in an increase in December. Higher rates tend to weigh on speculative Assets such as bitcoin.

What to watch

For MARA, the bitcoin price remains the dominant factor. Investors will be watching whether Binance resumes withdrawals by Sunday as planned, whether more stolen funds are recovered, and whether bitcoin can hold above its recent lows.

The calendar ahead includes the midterm elections on Tuesday, November 3, and the October jobs report on Friday, November 6, which could influence the Fed's December decision. With no company-specific news behind Friday's drop, MARA's shares are likely to keep moving with the token.
