BitGo Holdings (NYSE:BTGO) fell sharply on Friday, October 30, 2026, closing at $5.31, down $0.48, or 8.29%. The decline was led by the record Binance hack, which hit crypto stocks and Bitcoin across the sector. The custody and digital asset infrastructure company put out no filing, press release or rating change of its own, so it traded with the sector.

The crypto backdrop

Binance, the largest crypto exchange, was hit by what market reports described as a record theft of about $6.36 billion. Most of the funds moved across ten blockchains in about 20 minutes. Binance co-founder Yi He said the exchange would cover "all hacking losses," and co-CEO Richard Teng told users "your money is safe." Partners helped freeze about $3 billion of the stolen assets.

Crypto stocks fell hard on Friday. Before the open, Coinbase (NASDAQ:COIN) was down 5.2%, Strategy (NASDAQ:MSTR) was down 5.1% and Robinhood (NASDAQ:HOOD) was down 5.7%. By the close, market reports said Coinbase down more than 10%, Circle (NYSE:CRCL) down about 11% and Strategy down about 8%. Bitcoin dropped below $77,000 from a recent high near $82,000, and the iShares Bitcoin Trust fell 5.14%, according to market data. The wider market was weak as well. The Nasdaq Composite fell 2.86% and the S&P 500 fell 1.82% on a tech sell-off led by Intel (NASDAQ:INTC). The Russell 2000 dropped 1.66%. None of these reports mentioned BitGo by name, and its 8.29% fall was steeper than the broad indexes, close to the losses in crypto-linked names such as Coinbase.

What BitGo does

BitGo provides institutional custody, wallets, staking, trading, settlement and Stablecoin infrastructure for digital assets. It listed on the New York Stock Exchange in January 2026. Membership in a major index such as the Russell 2000 or the S&P SmallCap 600 was not confirmed. Its recent product news is steady but not market-moving. On October 22, BitGo and Kalshi Prime launched HODL Margining, which lets customers fund fiat Margin with crypto holdings, and BitGo Bank joined the Kalshi Prime network as its first custodian. On October 21, the company launched BitGo Labs, a research and innovation unit. Earlier in October it signed a Partnership with HashKey's WanCloud covering staking, trading, custody and tokenization of real-world assets. In late August, market reports said that BitGo agreed to acquire NYDIG's institutional trading business.

Revenue per employee

BitGo ranks among US companies with the highest revenue per employee. Market data lists trailing twelve-month revenue of $20.07 billion and 603 employees, which works out to roughly $33 million of revenue per employee. That figure needs context. Market data notes that most of BitGo's reported revenue comes from low-margin digital asset sales. The headline revenue figure is therefore very large compared with the company's profit, so revenue per employee says little about profit per employee. In June, market reports said that BitGo cut nearly 15% of its workforce so it could focus on security, trading, stablecoins, settlement and AI infrastructure.

Recent financials

In the second quarter of 2026, BitGo reported revenue of $4.33 billion, up 79.6% from a year earlier, according to market data. The company posted a net loss of $19 million, or $0.16 a share, compared with Net Income of $38.3 million a year earlier. Adjusted EBITDA was a loss of $4.2 million. An $18.8 million unrealized loss on digital Assets drove much of the swing. Normalized assets on the platform rose 31% to $65.2 billion, and the client count grew 26%.

BitGo ended the quarter with $159 million in cash and $147.7 million in bitcoin, and it authorized a $50 million share repurchase program. Chief Financial Officer Ed Reginelli said, "As we enter the second half, our focus is translating continued Business growth into stronger earnings." For the first quarter, the company had reported revenue of about $3.8 billion and a net loss of $60.7 million. For full-year 2025, it reported revenue of $16.2 billion and adjusted EBITDA of $32.4 million.

Valuation and analyst views

At the October 26 close of $5.40, market data put BitGo's Market Value at about $635 million, with a forward price-to-earnings ratio near 105. There is no trailing P/E because the company has lost money. Market data lists a Moderate Buy consensus from 15 analysts, with an average price target of $12.77 and a range of $8 to $18. Friday's close of $5.31 sits well below that average target. The stock has struggled in October, falling from $7.00 on October 13 to $5.88 on October 16, a single-day drop of 9.4%. It then traded between roughly $5.40 and $6.08 in the following sessions before Friday's slide.

Sector context

BitGo's revenue and sentiment depend on how active crypto markets are and on institutional willingness to hold digital assets. A large exchange hack could help or hurt it. It could renew interest in qualified, regulated custody, which is BitGo's core pitch. It could also cut trading volumes and risk appetite across the sector, as Friday's sell-off in crypto stocks showed. Bitcoin's slide, a Federal Reserve that raised rates in September, and a 10-year Treasury Yield near 4.93% all weigh on speculative growth stocks.

Risks

Key risks include crypto price volatility, which flows straight into BitGo's results through unrealized gains and losses on its bitcoin holdings. Margins on digital asset sales are thin. Security incidents could hit the industry or BitGo itself. The company also faces competition from larger exchanges and banks moving into custody, execution risk on acquisitions such as the NYDIG trading business, and Leadership turnover. In September, the company said Chief Operating Officer Jody Mettler would step down in October, and it named Alex Rozman as Chief Compliance Officer. As a small, recently listed stock, BTGO can swing sharply on light news.

What to watch next

BitGo will report third-quarter 2026 results on Monday, November 9. Investors will look at assets on the platform, client growth, staking and stablecoin revenue, and progress toward positive adjusted EBITDA. They will also want management's view on how the Binance incident affects Demand for custody. Watch, too, whether Binance resumes withdrawals within the 48 hours it promised, and whether bitcoin holds the $75,000 area that market data flagged as important support.
