Third-Quarter Results Show Broad Revenue Growth

Innospec (NASDAQ:IOSP) reported third-quarter results on November 3, 2026, for the quarter ended September 30. The specialty chemicals group posted revenue of USD 473.6 million, up from USD 441.9 million, and Net Income attributable to the company of USD 31.8 million. Adjusted EBITDA reached USD 51.4 million against USD 44.2 million a year earlier. The company also declared a semi-annual Dividend of 94 cents per share, payable on November 25, 2026 to holders of record on November 17, 2026, which lifts the annual dividend to USD 1.86 per share, a 9% increase over 2025, according to the release.

Why GAAP EPS Jumped While Adjusted EPS Rose Less

GAAP Earnings of USD 1.29 per diluted share compare with USD 0.52 a year ago, but the prior year carried large special items: USD 18.1 million of property impairments, USD 14.0 million of intangible impairments and a USD 17.7 million contingent consideration gain. Excluding such items, adjusted EPS rose from USD 1.12 to USD 1.29, or about 15% (simple arithmetic on two reported figures). In Performance Chemicals, revenue rose 6% to USD 180.5 million as price and product mix added 12%, volume fell 5% and currency cost 1%. Gross Margin there improved 3.7 points to 18.8%. Fuel Specialties grew 5% to USD 180.7 million with operating income up 1%, and Oilfield Services grew 13% to USD 112.4 million.

Cash Conversion, Oilfield Delays and Next Steps

Cash generation lagged earnings. Operating Cash Flow of USD 17.4 million was below the USD 39.1 million of a year earlier, and cash and equivalents of USD 251.9 million compare with USD 292.5 million at December 31, 2025, while receivables and inventories both rose over that period. Management said sequential Oilfield Services results fell short of expectations because of activity delays in its legacy Middle East Business and elevated raw material costs, though it expects sequential operating income growth in the fourth quarter. It also expects to commission plant efficiency upgrades in North Carolina by year-end. Oilfield Services gross margin fell 1.8 points to 28.2% on a weaker sales mix, and Fuel Specialties margin slipped 0.5 points to 35.1%.

Where Things Stand

Earnings per share of USD 1.29 reflect real operating improvement, not only the absence of last year's charges, since adjusted EPS also rose and every segment grew revenue. Still, growth in Performance Chemicals leaned on pricing and mix rather than volume, and weaker cash flow shows Working Capital absorbing funds. For Innospec (NASDAQ:IOSP), the next tests are the North Carolina upgrade commissioning, a recovery in Oilfield Services and whether management's pledge to improve working capital efficiency shows up in operating cash flow in coming quarters.
