Chairman and Chief Executive Officer David Foulkes said pipelines for boats and engines remain lean and aligned with retail demand, and that the premium and core brand portfolio continued to perform ahead of the overall market despite inflation, higher borrowing costs and geopolitical uncertainty. He estimated that Freedom Boat Club now accounts for close to 70% of the North American boat club market and said five major new outboard programs at Mercury remain in development.

Guidance and Cash Deployment

The updated 2026 guidance calls for net sales of USD 5.7 to 5.8 billion, adjusted operating margin of approximately 8.0%, adjusted diluted EPS of approximately USD 4.65, free cash flow of USD 400 million or more, debt retirement of USD 160 million or more, and share repurchases of USD 80 million or more. The company noted that it does not provide GAAP guidance for certain measures because restructuring, impairment and acquisition costs cannot be predicted without unreasonable effort.

Cash and marketable securities were USD 279.4 million at quarter end. Operating cash flow from continuing operations for the first nine months was USD 438.8 million. Uses of cash included USD 148.9 million of capital expenditures, USD 100.0 million of short term debt payments, USD 85.7 million of dividends, USD 60.0 million of share repurchases and USD 32.5 million for acquisitions of certain Freedom Boat Club franchise operations. Management cited USD 75 million of repurchases year to date.

Metrics and Dates to Follow

Several items are specific to the coming period. The full year guidance of approximately USD 4.65 in adjusted EPS can be set against the first nine months of results as the year closes. Free cash flow of USD 400 million or more and debt retirement of USD 160 million or more are the cash targets the company named, while the repurchase figure of USD 80 million or more compares with USD 75 million cited year to date. A leadership transition takes effect on January 1, 2027, when a new chief executive succeeds Mr. Foulkes, and the company states its strategy and capital allocation priorities remain unchanged. Dealer pipelines described as lean and the pace of consumer demand under inflation and borrowing costs are the conditions management called out.
