Record Gross Margin Narrows the Third-Quarter Loss

Backlog, Awards and the Revenue Timing Question

Backlog of USD 619.7 million is described as a record, and the book-to-bill ratio was 1.73 for the quarter and 1.63 over the last twelve months. Awards included a USD 20 million DARPA contract for testing of a scaled SabreSat spacecraft, a follow-on Axiom Space order for two Roll-Out Solar Array wings, and follow-on Stalker orders including from the U.S. National Guard. After quarter end, Redwire launched the fourth and final pair of Roll-Out Solar Arrays to the International Space Station. The chief executive acknowledged that revenue timing remains uneven. Nine-month revenue was USD 323.1 million versus USD 226.6 million, and the nine-month net loss was USD 140.7 million versus USD 141.1 million.

What the Reaffirmed Forecast Requires From the Fourth Quarter

Redwire (NYSE:RDW) reaffirmed 2026 revenue of USD 450 million to USD 500 million. Against USD 323.1 million booked in nine months, that implies fourth-quarter revenue of about USD 126.9 million to USD 176.9 million (calculated), compared with USD 109.0 million in the third quarter. Management points to USD 46.8 million of work in process and finished goods inventory. Total liquidity of USD 538.9 million consists of USD 488.9 million in cash, cash equivalents and restricted cash plus USD 50.0 million of available borrowings. A conference call to review results was scheduled for November 5, 2026.

Where Things Stand

Backlog growth reflects new awards, not yet recognized revenue, which is why the loss and the Backlog can both rise. Redwire (NYSE:RDW) booked USD 188.7 million of awards and improved gross margin to a record, while adjusted EBITDA stayed negative as research spending grew. The reaffirmed forecast needs a much larger fourth quarter than the third, so conversion of backlog into revenue is the main test.
