Volumes, Pricing and Cost Per Unit
Combined production rose 24% to 390 Bcfe, driven by the HG Acquisition in the core of the Marcellus Shale in West Virginia, which closed on February 3, 2026 and was partly offset by the Utica Shale divestiture that closed on February 23. Natural gas sales rose 11% to USD 703 million, as production gains outweighed a 16% drop in the realized gas price before derivatives, to USD 2.63 per Mcf. Natural gas liquids sales rose 23% to USD 580 million and oil sales rose 43% to USD 45 million.
Gathering, compression, processing and transportation expense fell 17% to USD 1.86 per Mcfe, which the filing attributes to lower unit costs on the acquired properties and firm transportation arrangements. Depletion, depreciation and amortization expense reached USD 241.2 million, and net interest expense climbed to USD 38.4 million from USD 18.2 million. Equity earnings from the company's stake in Antero Midstream rose to USD 110.7 million from USD 29.1 million.
Hedging, Capital Plan and Balance Sheet
The company projects a 2026 capital budget of USD 1.1 billion to USD 1.3 billion, which includes USD 1.0 billion for drilling and completion and up to USD 200 million of discretionary growth capital tied to commodity prices. It plans to complete 70 to 80 net horizontal wells in the Appalachian Basin this year. Capital expenditures were USD 958 million for the nine months, and operating cash flow was USD 1.87 billion versus USD 1.26 billion.
About 44% of third-quarter production was hedged through commodity derivatives, excluding basis swaps, and the contracts carried a net fair value asset of USD 284 million at quarter end. The filing notes that commodity prices could remain volatile. The company repurchased about 2 million shares for USD 56 million in the quarter, leaving about USD 821 million of repurchase capacity.
Indicators Still in Focus
Four items offer measurable checkpoints. The first is capital pacing, since USD 958 million had been spent through September against the USD 1.1 billion to USD 1.3 billion budget range. The second is debt, with USD 1.0 billion outstanding on a term loan that matures on February 3, 2029, and a commercial paper program capped at USD 1.65 billion that began in June. The third is hedge coverage, which stands at roughly 54% of 2026 volumes and 35% of 2027 volumes on the filing's 2025 production assumption. The fourth is the HG Acquisition accounting, where the purchase price allocation is scheduled to be finalized within 12 months of the closing date, alongside planned changes to commercial arrangements with Antero Midstream.
