Net Income Nearly Doubles Year Over Year

Western New England Bancorp, Inc. (NASDAQ:WNEB) reported third quarter net income of USD 6.3 million, or USD 0.32 per diluted share, compared with USD 3.2 million, or USD 0.16 per diluted share, in the third quarter of 2025. On a linked quarter basis, net income increased from USD 3.6 million, or USD 0.18 per diluted share, in the second quarter of 2026. For the nine months ended September 30, 2026, net income was USD 14.7 million, or USD 0.74 per diluted share, compared with USD 10.1 million, or USD 0.50 per diluted share, a year earlier.

The company's diversified loans and deposits, along with a disciplined approach to managing funding costs, supported the improvement in profitability during the quarter.

Margin Expansion Driven by Deposit Discipline

Net interest margin increased 7 basis points to 3.07% for the quarter, up from 3.00% in the second quarter of 2026. On a tax-equivalent basis, a non-GAAP measure, net interest margin increased 7 basis points to 3.09% from 3.02%. At September 30, 2026, core deposits represented 69.8% of total deposits, while non-interest-bearing deposits represented 25.3%, with the average cost of deposits at 1.73% for the quarter.

This combination of core deposit stability and disciplined funding cost management supported the margin expansion that contributed to the quarter's profitability improvement.

Capital Return Program Expanded

The board of directors declared a quarterly cash dividend of USD 0.07 per share, payable on or about November 25, 2026, to shareholders of record on November 11, 2026. The company also announced a new share repurchase plan for up to 5% of outstanding shares, continuing what management described as an integral element of its capital management strategies.

Management said the company remains committed to returning value to shareholders through both share repurchases and quarterly cash dividends, supported by strong capital and liquidity levels that provide a foundation to pursue opportunities in its markets.

Margin and Capital Return Metrics to Track

Net interest margin trends relative to the 3.07% reported this quarter, continued core deposit stability relative to the 69.8% share of total deposits, and the pace of execution under the new 5% share repurchase plan are among the items the company has flagged for investors heading into the fourth quarter.
