Sevasemten Sale Gain Lifts the Quarter

Edgewise Therapeutics (NASDAQ:EWTX) filed its Quarterly Report on November 4, 2026. Net Income of USD 1,166.2 million compares with a USD 40.7 million loss in the third quarter of 2025, and nine-month net income was USD 1,059.8 million. The swing came from the sale of sevasemten and the muscular dystrophy program to Servier, completed on July 10, 2026. Edgewise received USD 1,396.1 million upfront, with another USD 153.9 million placed in escrow, for expected initial proceeds of USD 1,550.0 million. Up to USD 1,100.0 million in milestones could follow. Income tax expense of USD 155.3 million was recorded against the gain, so pretax income of USD 1,321.5 million fell to the net figure. Edgewise had 109,457,922 shares outstanding at September 30, 2026.

Operating Loss Persists Beneath the Headline

The company says excluding the gain it expects significant losses to continue. Loss from operations was USD 46.1 million for the quarter, little changed from USD 46.9 million, and USD 162.2 million for nine months, up from USD 135.4 million. Interest income rose to USD 16.5 million from USD 6.2 million on a larger cash balance, and other income of USD 3.1 million relates to transition services for Servier. Cash used in Operating Activities was USD 163.3 million for the nine months. Retained Earnings stood at USD 513.4 million at quarter end. Diluted Earnings per Share of USD 9.65 compare with Basic Earnings Per Share of USD 10.71, reflecting a larger diluted share count of roughly 120.9 million weighted shares versus about 108.9 million basic.

EDG-7500 Phase 3 Plan Frames the Cardiac Pivot

Edgewise now describes itself as a cardiovascular-focused clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company. Its lead program, EDG-7500, is an oral cardiac sarcomere modulator, and the company announced positive 12-week Phase 2 topline data in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy in June 2026, with a Phase 3 trial planned to begin in the fourth quarter of 2026. A second candidate, EDG-15400, is in a Phase 2 trial in heart failure with preserved ejection fraction. Management expects research spending to rise substantially, warning that Drug Development is highly uncertain and that timing and cost cannot be predicted.

Where Things Stand

The profit is a one-time effect, not a sign of recurring earnings. Edgewise Therapeutics (NASDAQ:EWTX) booked USD 1.17 billion of quarterly net income because of the sevasemten gain, while the USD 46.1 million operating loss shows the underlying spend. The USD 1,743.9 million cash position gives the pipeline room, and investors can watch the fourth-quarter Phase 3 start for EDG-7500 and any Servier milestone payments. The filing contains no Revenue figures and no price reaction.
